A Quarantine Check-in from our Founder

Hi there. It’s me (Justine) writing you from the center of the COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. in Queens, NYC. I’ve been MIA on our blog and social media platforms for a while now. The virus and all of its implications have taken their toll on me personally, as well as our clients. Nearly all of our 2020 weddings have been rescheduled for 2021, and in weeks following the “pause” in New York, we worked tirelessly with clients to negotiate postponements with their vendors, provide resources and emotional support, and figure out how to best take care of ourselves and our community during this time. In the early weeks of quarantine, my partner and I both got sick (likely COVID, but who knows? We weren’t able to get tested), and I’ll be honest - it was an incredibly scary and stressful time. Those weeks involved several tele-health doctor visits, one ER visit, constant anxiety, and not nearly enough food or sleep. We recovered, and we’re relieved to be healthy now. We’re also incredibly thankful for our friends and family who rallied around us to provide support during this time.

We’re adjusting to this new (hopefully temporary) lifestyle of social isolation, limited access to groceries and necessities, and a generally slower pace of life. We’re fortunate to be able to work from home, and we’re doing our best to make the most of this time. Still - it’s difficult to ignore the disproportionate impact that COVID-19 is taking on essential workers, communities of color, immigrant communities, and the like. Together Events has always been committed to using gatherings for social good - and this moment provides even more of an opportunity to focus on combating the systemic inequality all around us - through our 10% donation program and our individual political engagement. I’m also finally feeling well enough to be back in the public space of the online world and ready to use my voice and my talents to serve my community. Whether you’re an engaged couple looking for help or anyone else needing support at this time - I’m here and ready to help. Reach out if we can support you.
