With a spirit of inclusion and connection - and a deep appreciation for locally made whiskey - Brooklyn wedding vendors, Bethany of Sojourner Society, and Justine, of Together Events, brought together a group of industry professionals for an evening of creative collaboration, education, and tipsy-making. Set on a stunning rooftop at golden hour, the team hosted a photoshoot celebrating queer love and queer fashion, highlighting the talents of an incredible team of Brooklyn wedding vendors.
The tablescape featured bright colors and a mix of textures, and a group of incredible models (and one real life couple!) brought the work of designers Kirrin Finch and Rebecca Schoneveld Bridal to life! Kirrin Finch's menswear-inspired androgynous clothing is the answer so many of our nonbinary friends have been looking for when it comes to suiting, and Rebecca Schoneveld's commitment to providing sample sizes that fit real people's bodies is a god-send.
Hand-lettered paper goods, signs, and mosaic tile place cards from Penned by Alice added gorgeous pops of color and gold foil detailing to the space.
The photoshoot was followed by an industry celebration and opportunity for co-learning and networking amongst attendees, fueled by Brooklyn-made Hella Cocktail Co. bitters, New York Distilling spirits, and tasty bites by sustainability-minded Purslane Catering and social-impact-driven Cookies for a Cause. The signature cocktails were a fun alternative to beer and wine, with the Rosy Gin Fizz (featuring Hella Cocktail Co.'s Rosemary Lemon Mixer, Dorothy Parker Gin, and club soda) and the Fleur Old Fashioned (featuring NY Distilling Co.'s Ragtime Rye, Hella Cocktail bitters, and chamomile syrup) blowing our guests away. Purslane's pursuit of waste-free catering is inspiring and oh-so-needed in this wedding world. Cookies for a Cause's cookie masterpieces are not only gorgeous works of art, but they donate a proceed of every sale to nonprofit organizations changing the world - They're pure magic!
Of course, no party would be complete without a photo booth, so Founder Elvis, of SharePix Photo Booth, set up one of his photo booth stations for an incredibly fun and easy addition to the evening.
In an industry that overwhelmingly privileges images and content catered to straight, white, cisgendered couples - we were so excited to celebrate and learn alongside wedding vendors who are committed to creating a more inclusive wedding industry and to celebrate the beauty of queer love. We're so glad that publications like H&H Weddings are here to celebrate all bodies and all love.
